
Emre Engin
Violin
A graduate of Pinchas Zukerman’s prestigious violin class at Manhattan School of Music, Emre has won a number of awards including the 2012 International Istanbul Music Festival Young Soloist of the Year, Best Emerging Artist by Donizetti Classical Music Awards and First Prize at the Ilhan Ozsoy Presidential Violin Competition, among others.
After completing his Bachelors Degree at the Royal College of Music and his Masters Degree at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship, he received his doctoral degree at the State University of New York Stony Brook University Music Department.
Emre was appointed Concertmaster of the New Manhattan Sinfonietta, a New York City based orchestra founded by conductor Gurer Aykal in 2018. He has performed solo and participated in chamber music performances around the world, including Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5 Turkish with Tekfen Philharmonic at the opening concert of 2020 International Istanbul Music Festival.
Emre has recently led and co-led orchestras such as Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, English National Opera and Dorset Opera Festival Orchestra.
He enjoys playing on a rare violin by G. C. Gigli, made in Rome circa 1743.
