
Stephanie Edmundson
Viola
Stephanie was born in Lytham, Saint Annes, Lancashire, and attended Chetham’s School of Music where she studied violin with Deirdre Ward. She later went on to study with Graham Oppenheimer and became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in which she was co-principal Viola.
In 2006, Stephanie gained a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Martin Outram, and was awarded the Maurice Loban prize for Viola. She was made an associate of the Royal Academy in 2022.
Stephanie has a particular love of chamber music and was the founder member of the Jubilee Quartet. The quartet received awards from the Tillet Trust, Park Lane Group, Philharmonia/Martin musical scholarship fund, Worshipful Company of Musicians, and the Hattori Foundation. The group studied extensively with Gunter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) and Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet).
Stephanie has been a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra since 2018, but she also works with many of London’s orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as working with several of London’s studio orchestras, such as the London Contemporary Orchestra.
