His life in London with the BBCCO involves an eclectic range of music making. They play classical and pop concerts, and record music for TV, film, radio and posterity. The cello quartet Cellophonics, with Christopher Allan, Michael Atkinson and Adrian Bradbury, is a project close to his heart. They have recently completed their second Valentine's Concert Tour and have given courses for the Surrey Music Academy at the Menuhin School.

Ben studied at the Royal Academy of Music where his cello teacher was Derek Simpson, and at SUNY Purchase, USA, with Julia Lichten.

He teaches the cello at the Royal Grammar School and privately at his home in Guildford.
